BDCI Bursary interviews

We were pleased to welcome Edward Hoefling of the Butchers’ and Drovers’ Charitable Institution (BDCI), together with Visiting Professor Bob Bansback, to the University this week to interview shortlisted candidates for the BDCI Bursary.  They were joined on the panel by Dr Annette Creedon, Head of Food Science and Agri-Food Supply Chain Management at Harper Adams. First and second year students studying on a BSc or FdSc course at the University who could demonstrate a relevance to the meat and livestock industry, either within their chosen area of study or future career plans, were invited to apply for this fantastic opportunity.  Successful candidates will receive £5,000 in funding from the BDCI for each remaining academic year.

Harriet Noble, 23, a final year Agriculture with Animal Science student and former recipient of this award said:

“The Butchers’ and Drovers’ Bursary Award allows an opportunity for livestock orientated students like myself to pursue a career in the meat trade upon graduation from Harper Adams University.  This bursary will allow me to undertake the qualifications required to make me more employable, for example, artificial insemination qualification, towing trailer license and foot trimming.”

Head of Development Doris Taylor said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to students at Harper Adams University and we thank the BDCI for their generous support”.
